      HOW IT WORKS

      Newborn Sessions

Nothing gets me more excited than a newborn photography session, where I can unleash my creative outlet to provide you a unique one of kind portrait session. Once you have make your non-refundable deposit, I will send you a detailed newborn preparation guide. I will work with you to understand your style and what you would like to get from the session. I often ask what 3 colors you would like me to incorporate into the session (should all work together) so that when you put a collage of my images together, it will look like art on the wall.

      Experience (Full-Time Photographer – not a hobby)

I am a Mom of 2 beautiful children, and have over 14 years of experience working with newborns. I have attended numerous newborn workshops, Photoshop conferences, and belong to several photography groups where we help each other. I have been a full time photographer since 2001, so when you choose me, you are choosing experience from a well established Photography Business.

      Timing

I like to see newborn babies within 6-10 days of life, but no later than 14 days. I will tentatively book your newborn session 1 week after your due date. If baby comes early, you will need to contact me on day one of arrival to let me know we need to move the scheduled date earlier, and if baby has not arrived 5 days prior to our date, you can also email me so that I can move the scheduled date further out.

Where does the newborn session take place?

All newborn photography sessions are done out of my home studio Monday thru Friday, located in St. Albert, Alberta. I rely on my props, backdrops, and studio lights to get the absolute best images of your baby. I do not offer in-house sessions.

      Arrival

When baby arrives, you will be greeted with a very warm temperature, soothing sounds from my baby sound maker, and my gentle “baby whisper” hands. I will take baby from you at the door, so that you can relax and enjoy a refreshments and snacks from my coffee bar.

      Saftey

Newborn safety is my highest priority. I have taken several newborn safety courses, and with 14 years of experience working with over 800 newborn babies, I promise your baby will be safe.

      During the Session

I will work with your baby through a number of poses and props (naked, clothed with my accessories, and wrapped), capturing multiple angles , perspectives, and all the details like baby fingers and toes to ensure the photo is just right. This process takes patience, which I have lots of! I only book one newborn session per day, so that I am not rushed and can take as much time as baby needs.

Baby will dictate how the session goes. If your newborn needs a diaper change, feeding, or just wants some cuddle time, that’s what I will do.

At the end of the session, I will do all the family photos capturing all that new love that is pouring out of you.

This entire process will take between 2-3 hours. I am not limited to this time frame, if baby is a superstar, we may be done early, if baby needs more cuddle time, we may be longer. As mentioned above, I only book one newborn a day, so I am relaxed and not pressured to move on to my next client.
